M32 closures

From 20th March for 11 weeks there will be night time southbound closures of the M32 to enable the central reservation barrier over the Eastville Viaduct to be replaced.

To try to minimise disruption, the contractors will carry out the work between 8pm and 6am Monday to Friday, so the M32 will remain open in both directions during the day. At night the southband carriageway will be completely closed. There may also be times when they need to close a section of the northbound carriageway too, but these times are not yet finalised. They will be liasing with contractors on other nearby projects, such as MetroBus.

Unfortunately they won't be able to lift the 40mph restrictions when this work is complete because futher work needs to be carried out on the viaduct parapets.

M32 closures

There will be some closures on the M32 between junctions 1 and 3 from 8pm on Friday June 10 until 6am on Monday June 13.

The closures will allow a new bridge to be put in place over the motorway for the MetroBus bus-only junction and are required to carry out this work safely.

To minimise disruption, Highways England plan to carry out the work in four shifts:

Fri 10 June 8pm to Sat 11 June 8am
Full closure between Junction 1 and 3 in both directions

Sat 11 June 8am to 8pm
Full closure between Junction 1 and 2 in both directions
Traffic management between Junction 2 and 3 in both directions.

Sat 11 June 8pm to Sun 12 June 6am
Full closure between Junction 1 and 3 in both
directions

Sun 12 June 6pm to Mon 13 June 6am
Full closure between Junction 2 and 3 in both
directions

Between 6am and 6pm on Sunday 12th June all junctions would be open.

M32 closures

The M32 will have to be closed overnight on a number of occasions to enable work to be done on the new Bus Only Junction between junctions 1 and 2. The first closures will be on the nights of Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th January, when the M32 will be closed between J1 and J2 from 9pm to 6am for the removal of overhead cables. Some traffic signs and lane closures will start to be erected on the westbound approach to junction 1 on 4th January.
