Avon Fire And Rescue - advice on tomorrow's strike

Tomorrow between 12 noon and 4pm a national strike by firefighters is taking place. Avon Fire and Rescue Service have published some advice on staying safe and answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

Could you be a Community First Responder?

Great Western Ambulance Service are looking for volunteers to train as Community First Responders. They are also creating a database of locations of defibrillator machines that are held in the community. If you are aware of one, please contact firstresponder@gwas.nhs.uk. Further information on volunteering can be found on the Great Western Ambulance website.

Flashing blue light and siren behind you - what do you do?

Strangely there's not much in the Highway Code about this, but a new activity on the Avon Fire and Rescue website will get you really thinking about it.

This isn't your usual boring survey - it's really thought-provoking, and the results will help design a public education and awareness campaign about what you should do to help emergency vehicles get through. Please give it a go!
