Police are still investigating the tragic incident where a pedestrian was fatally injured in a collision with a car near the Park Lane junction on Badminton Road just after midnight on Monday 16th May.
Following the incident, South Glos highways officers reviewed the accident record and found there had been three accidents involving slight injury since January 2013. There is an existing yellow backed ‘junction to the left’ warning sign for northbound vehicles on Badminton Road. However this was observed to be obscured by vegetation and partially faded. Streetcare have now cut back the vegetation and the sign will be replaced and supplemented by a ‘SLOW’ road marking to highlight the junction.
Local news for the central rural area of South Gloucestershire, covering the Charfield, Frampton Cotterell, Ladden Brook and Westerleigh wards.

69A Park Lane application to be decided next week
Last Friday the DC (West) planning committee members visited 69A Park
Lane, where the owner is hoping to turn part of the ground floor into a
hair and beauty salon and create a second storey for living space.
Although the site is in Frampton Cotterell ward, it is close to the
boundary with Westerleigh ward and concerns had been raised on both
sides, so both Pat and Claire spoke in the slot for local councillors. Residents' concerns included parking, highway safety, the
impact on the Green Belt and whether this was the right location for a
commercial property.
A decision will be made by the committee next Thursday, 12th March. The meeting starts at 11am and is in Turnberries Community Centre, Bath Road, Thornbury, BS35 2BB. You can read the agenda and the report on this application online.

Park Lane speeding
At the recent Safer Stronger Community Group, Claire Young raised the issue of speeding on Park Lane on behalf of residents.
In the year to the end of October 2014 the camera van visited Park Lane (outside number 66) 21 times for an hour each and 223 tickets were issued. Beat manager PC Simmons also carries out checks on foot and he suggested co-ordinating those with the camera van, the mobile Vehicle Activated Sign and the Community Speedwatch teams.
If you are concerned about speeding on Park Lane between Badminton Road and the village boundary and would like to help, please contact speedwatch co-ordinator John Pearce on 07843 871387.

The council cannot stop them installing the new mast but can comment on its position and design. Pat Hockey has talked to the immediate neighbours about the plans. You can comment on the South Glos website by going to the Simple Search page and searching for PT14/1851/PN1. The deadline for comments is Monday 9th June.
